![]() Man, how can one choose favorites for anything? There is so much in this world that I can use: Firefighting, for its intensity, scuba diving for its serenity, cooking for the diversity, music for its feeling, and reading for its ability to take me somewhere else.
Firefighting is such an intense job. The best thing about it is the teamwork. You take a crew of FF's from different backgrounds, and they will work together as a team. Firefighters will be your greatest friends, but if you do something dorky or stupid, they will never let you forget it.
Scuba diving is the most relaxing thing to do. No job, family, or other BS to worry about. Just me, the bubbles, and the fish.
Music lets me define the mood I am in.
Books are, in my humble opinion, as much a staple of life as food and water. The written word is a dynamic entity, allowing us to travel, convey feelings and emotions in a way that is beyond times reach. Some of my favorites include: Report from Engine Co. 82, anything by Seamus Heaney and W.E.B. Griffin, Leo Stapleton is also good.
Cooking is such a diverse and open activity. It has the ability to let your creative side out, with nothing held back. You can add, subtract, a pinch here, a dash there. BBQ is the best, but Mexican, Italian, and Cajun also rate.
